Premiere Rush shuts down on September 30, 2026: what to do and where to edit next

Adobe is ending Premiere Rush on September 30. Export your projects first, then pick a new editor: Adobe's replacement, and the options for talking-head videos.

Adobe Premiere Rush reaches the end of the road on September 30, 2026. The app already disappeared from Adobe.com and the app stores on September 30, 2025. On the 30th of this month, technical support ends, and the app may stop working (Adobe, Creative COW).

If you still have projects in Rush, you have a few days.

Before September 30: export what you want to keep

Treat the exported video as the only copy you can rely on.

  1. Open every project you might need again and export it as a finished video, at the highest quality Rush offers.
  2. If your projects sync through Creative Cloud, read Adobe’s note on synced files for Premiere Rush.
  3. Check your original footage is still in your camera roll or storage, not only inside a project.

Adobe’s replacement: Premiere on iPhone

Adobe points Rush users to Premiere on iPhone and Premiere on desktop. Premiere on Android opened as an Early Access beta in late August 2026, for devices with 6 GB of RAM or more (Adobe).

Premiere on iPhone is a multitrack timeline editor with automatic animated captions, 4K HDR and frame-accurate trimming (Newsshooter). If you used Rush for general-purpose edits, it is the natural next step.

If your videos are mostly you, talking

Rush was a common choice for quick talking-head clips. For that job, pick the tool that fits the footage:

  • Timeline editors such as Premiere on iPhone, CapCut or Edits are strongest when the edit is visual: music, b-roll, text, effects.
  • Transcript editors are strongest when the edit is spoken: you read the take, strike false starts and repeats, and set the pauses. Descript is the best known, but it needs a computer; its help pages say editing on phones and tablets is not supported (Descript Help).
  • slicecut is a transcript editor that runs on iPhone and Android. Import a take, strike words with a tap, set every pause with one dial, and export at source quality to your gallery. Then finish in any timeline editor you like.

For more on choosing, see CapCut alternative for talking-head videos and A Descript alternative for your phone.

The short version

Export your Rush projects before September 30. Move general editing to Premiere on iPhone or another timeline editor. For videos where you talk to the camera, try cutting by text: that is where most of the time in a talking-head edit goes.
